Clair Johnson Hovey, age 79, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away Monday, June 29, 1998 at the University Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.
He was born May 24, 1919 in Logan, Utah, the son of Merlin R. and Lauretta Johnson Hovey. He married DelMae Chugg on January 24, 1946 in Providence, Utah.Clair was reared and educated in Logan, Utah and graduated from Logan High. He attended Utah State and Weber State Universities. He lived several years in Ogden and resided in Kaysville since 1965. He served his country for four years during World War II in the U. S. Navy and was a member of the LDS Church.
Clair had a wonderful sense of humor. His family was his focus in life. He enjoyed bowling, golfing and reading.
He is survived by his wife, DelMae Chugg Hovey, Kaysville; one son and one daughter, Ronald Clair (Sonia) Hovey, Kaysville; Kaylene Jones, Ogden; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother and a sister, Dennis (Emma) Hovey, St. George; Beth (Eli) Campbell, Boise, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Reid Hovey.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, July 2, 1998 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary, 400 No. Main, where friends and family may call Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to service. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
