Lucile Vernon Richard, 80, of Orem passed away Monday, April 27, 1998 at her home.
She was born July 8, 1917 in Maesar, Utah to William Morley and Roseltha Bingham Vernon. She married Verdan J. Richardson January 29, 1936 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She spent her early childhood in the Uintah Basin Her family later moved to Orem and she graduated from Lincoln High School as valedictorian in 1933. After graduation she attended Brigham Young University. She and her husband owned and operated Verd's Fruit Stand, one of Orem's oldest businesses. She was honored in 1997 as Orem's outstanding businesswomen. Family and friends will remember her for her hard work ethic.She is survived by two daughters: Linda (Lloyd) Ash, Pleasant Grove; Kathryn Richardson, Orem; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Additional survivors include two brothers, Leo P. Vernon and Lawrence Vernon; and a sister, Venna Gaisford. She was preceded in death by a son, Randall Verdan Richardson.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 1, 1998 at 11 a.m. in the Windsor Seventy Ward Chapel, 1390 North Main Street. Friends may call Thursday evening from 6-8 at Olpin Family mortuary, 500 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove, and at the church on Friday one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
