Edsel (Ted) Joseph Nielson passed away peacefully, June 28, 1998 at home, after a long and valiant battle with cancer. He was an example of strength, endurance, and dedication to the Lord, to his family.

He was born November 6, 1927 in Lynndyl, Utah to Philo Leland and Wanda Dutson Nielson. He was raised in Oak City, Utah and attended High School in Delta, Utah. He married Patricia Murphy Nielson on June 25, 1948 in Layton, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on February 25, 1949. They recently celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary.He is survived by two brothers; Acel D. Nielson, Roy; Onzlow Nielson, Fruit Heights; children; David E. (Loretta) Nielson, Fruit Heights; Leslie Nielson (Desmond) Thomas, Perry; Alan R. (Sue) Nielson, Bountiful; Shane L. (Karrie) Nielson, Woods Cross; 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He served two Stake Missions and various church positions to include ward clerk and High Priest Group leader, and Young Men's President. He was a member of the Swanee Singers Male Chorus for 21 years. He retired from Hill Air Force Base, Utah in 1985 after 30 years of service to include two tours of duty in Vietnam.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon, Wednesday, July 1, 1998 in the Bountiful 19th Ward Chapel, 1500 North 400 East. Friends may call Tuesday evening from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Bountiful, 295 North Main, and again Wednesday morning from 10:45-11:45 a.m. at the church. Interment-Salt Lake City Cemetery.
