The Washington County Commission has passed a resolution establishing a county film commission to help lure moviemakers to southwestern Utah.
"It can be successful once we get it established," County Commissioner Alan Gardner said. "We've had a lot of movies filmed here in the past."Kayla Koeber, a film production scout, agreed.
"We thought it's silly to miss out on all those dollars," Koeber said.
"Another goal is to get jobs for local people."
The resolution adopted Monday states the film commission will have a budget and be housed at the Washington County Travel and Convention Bureau. A previous film commission operated under the jurisdiction of the Five County Association of Governments.
