Joey Bishop, the last surviving member of the Rat Pack, says this stuff you've been hearing about the guys being drunken skirt-chasers is all wrong.

Bishop, 80, said in this week's Time magazine that he never saw Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr. or Peter Lawford drunk during performances in the 1960s."That was only a gag! And do you believe these guys had to chase broads? They had to chase 'em away!" Bishop said from his home in Newport Beach, Calif.

He said the Rat Pack's renewed cultural currency - the books, tributes and an upcoming HBO movie - has more to do with money than with truth. "I don't understand this searching for things that weren't there," he said. "It's like a hunger."
