Irene Ethel Bunot Billings, 92, died Sunday, June 28, 1998, in Bountiful, Utah
She was born November 6, 1905 in Riverside, Idaho, a daughter of Walter Bunot and Sarah Ralph. She married Ross Dwight Billings on June 20, 1932 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She attended the University of Utah; obtained her teaching certificate and taught elementary school in Coalville, Utah. She started her married life in a tent in Oklahoma, but wherever she was and regardless of the living conditions, she was an accomplished homemaker and took great pride in her home. She was an extraordinary seamstress, a wonderful cook and an exceptional hostess. She enjoyed entertaining guests from all walks of life including friends, construction workers, mayors, congressmen, senators and foreign engineers and diplomats. A faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served willingly in many callings including ward Relief Society Presidencies.She is survived by her daughter, Claire (George) Thain; her son, John (Gayle) Billings; two sisters, Ilene Laney, and her twin Leone Christensen; seven grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; and two sisters, Lilly Bunot and Inez Bunot.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 1, 1998 at 2 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, where friends may call Tuesday evening 6-8 p.m. and again Wednesday morning 12:45-1:45 p.m. prior to service. Interment-Salt Lake City Cemetery.
