Former Beatle George Harrison has successfully undergone treatment for throat cancer, British newspapers reported Monday.

"I'm not going to die on you folks just yet - I am very lucky," Harrison, 54, was quoted as saying. He said he was working on a new album and joked: "Maybe I'll record a track called Radiation Therapy."

The Times said he was given the all-clear last month after weeks of radiation therapy on a cancerous lump in his neck. "I got it purely from smoking. I gave up cigarettes many years ago but had started again for a while and stopped in 1997."
