Vern William Marrott, age 83, passed away Thursday, June 25, 1998, incident to age, just blocks from his childhood home where he was born and raised on his parent's westside farm, in Provo, Utah.

Born April 3, 1915, the sixth child of Lewis and Ann Effie Fisher Marrott. He attended and graduated from Provo city schools. He served an LDS mission in the Northwestern States Mission, serving in British Columbia, Oregon and Montana. He married Virginia Mary Jolley in the Salt Lake Temple, May 8, 1940.They purchased a 35 acre fruit farm in 1944, in Spanish Fork, Utah where they resided together until shortly before his death. Along with his own farm work, Dad did custom farm work and sold vacuum cleaners. In 1962, they purchased the Mapleton Market and operated it for many years. He has been self-employed much of his life.

He was an active member of the LDS Church, a High Priest, serving over the years in leadership, teaching and genealogical capacities. Interests included fishing, hunting, rose and dahlia gardening, an avid reader, poetry writing, watercolor and enjoying quiet moments.

He is missed by family and friends who look to the time when we will meet again.

Survived by his wife of 58 years and their five children: Lewis (Janet) Marrott, Benjamin, Utah; Sally (Mont) Brown, Sandy, Utah; Brent Marrott, Salt Lake City, Utah; Richard Marrott, Fresno, California; Phillip (Ann) Marrott, Woodland Hills, Utah; 15 grandchildren; sister and brothers: Elsie Swenson, Ray Marrott, Don Marrott, all residing in the Salt Lake area; Jesse Marrott, Provo, Utah. Preceded in death by parents; brothers: Lewis James Marrott, Eugene Marrott; sisters: Daisy Marrott, Ethel Ivie and Belva Smith.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 30, 1998 at 11 a.m. at the LDS Canyon Ridge Ward Chapel located at 1750 East 750 South, Spanish Fork, Utah. Friends may call for a viewing Monday evening, June 29, 1998 between the hours of 6-8 p.m. at Walker Mortuary, 187 South Main, Spanish Fork, Utah; or Tuesday, June 30, 1998 at the church, one hour prior to services. Interment, Orem City Cemetery, 1500 North 800 East.
