Julia Aileen Ashby Cherrington, 76, of Springville, died at her home, of cancer, Wednesday, June 24, 1998.

She was born in Leamington, Utah to Nathaniel and Jannie Amanda Johnson Ashby on November 30, 1921. She married Amyot Bert Cherrington of Springville, Utah in the Manti LDS Temple on May 24, 1940.Julia's life was filled with love and appreciation for her husband, family, and friends. Her extraordinary work ethic was admired by all who knew her; whether on the farm or during her 25 years of service at Brigham Young University. At the time of her retirement, she was serving as the Administrative Assistant to the Academic Vice-President.

She was active in the LDS Church where she served in numerous callings. She and Bert served honorably in the Salt Lake City South Mission assigned to the St. George area. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Julia is survived by four sons and two daughters: Glenn Cherrington, Riverton; Paul (Janet) Cherrington, Scottsdale, AZ; Stephen (Lynne) Cherrington, Orem; Patricia (Raymond) Jensen, Springville; Thomas (Mary) Cherrington, Providence, UT; Jan and Brett Watson, Springville; 28 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; sister, Vera (Don) Watts; brother, Ralph (Jan) Ashby, Tempe, AZ. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bert.

Funeral service will be held Monday, June 29, 1998 at 11 a.m., in the Hobble Creek Stake Center, 525 South Averett Ave. (600 East), Springville. Friends may call Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South, Springville, or Monday one hour prior to the service at the Stake Center. Burial will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
