Johns Hopkins University is launching the nationwide expansion of a program to offer physicians practical business education.

The Caliber Learning Center in Salt Lake City will host an information session 5 p.m. Monday, June 29, to introduce doctors to the Hopkins Business of Medicine Executive Graduate Certificate Program.The session will demonstrate the interactive course delivery, which uses live satellite broadcast, interactive videoconferencing and computer networking.

The program used to be available only at Johns Hopkins University campus in Baltimore. Courses will begin Sept. 14.

The program is designed to help doctors master business skills needed to succeed in today's evolving health-care market. Each of the program's four courses is conducted in three-hour sessions and each course meets for 10 sessions, one evening a week.

The courses are "Managed Care: Perspectives and Practices," "Accounting for Decision Making in Medicine," Managerial Finance for Medical Services" and "Leadership and Organizational Behavior in Medical Settings."
