Salt Lake County prosecutors have charged a 19-year old West Valley man with attempted murder, alleging he shot two men during a June 16 fight.

Charges filed in 3rd District Court state the victims were flagged down by an individual at 1804 W. 400 North, and asked to get out of their truck. They were then assaulted by two other men, who hit them with liquor bottles and kicked them as they lay on the ground, the charging documents say.Another man then emerged with a gun, and "fired several rounds" at the victims. One was struck four times, the other was hit twice, the charges state.

Witnesses saw the gunman flee on foot, but he was found later in a nearby apartment, "with blood covering him," according to the probable-cause statement. The statement also said one witness later identified the suspect from a police lineup.

The 19-year-old was charged with two counts of attempted murder, a second-degree felony. The two other men allegedly involved in the beating were charged with two counts of aggravated assault, a second-degree felony.
