Police are asking for the public's help in locating a young Orem girl they believe may have been kidnapped by a distant relative.

Chilsea Lund, the 11-year-old daughter of Dea Lund, was reported missing by her mother.Orem police spokesman Lt. Bob Conner said Frederick S. Laird, 37, of Murray, called the Lund home Thursday.

Laird is a distant relative to the family. He has not had contact with the family for more than 13 years.

Laird asked for Dea Lund and then for one of the daughters in the family. He was directed to a friend's home where the child was playing.

Laird talked on the phone to Chilsea, who told her friends he said he was taking her to get a big surprise for her mother.

Chilsea left the friend's residence and has not returned.

Chilsea is white, has brown shoulder-length hair, brown eyes and was last seen wearing fluorescent green and blue checkered short overalls with a blue shirt.

Laird is approximately 5-foot-9 and weighs between 180 and 200 pounds. He is very tanned, muscular with a shaved head and has a number of tattoos.

Laird is believed to be driving a 1989 silver or gray two-door Nissan Sentra, Utah license plate 736DBW.
