Friday, June 26, is the last day for bidding on four miniature horses and a Shetland pony at the West Valley City Animal Shelter, 4063 S. 7200 West.

Twenty-four bids had been submitted as of mid-Tuesday on the horses, which were found starving about three months ago and impounded by animal control officials. Owners forfeited the animals to West Valley City and face four counts of animal cruelty, a shelter official said.Celia Georgi, shelter manager, said prospective buyers may visit the shelter between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. The new owner will be informed Monday if their bid is selected.
