Our loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Emma Green Thain, 92, died of natural causes on June 22, 1998, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Ted and Sharon Thain, in Simi Valley, CA.
We thank them for the wonderful care they gave her. We are also grateful for the prior care given by other family members.Born October 22, 1905 in Raymond, Alberta, Canada to George W. and Mary Esther Nalder Green. Attended schools in Lethbridge, where she spent her growing up years. Graduated from Utah State University, where she met her husband, Ted E. Thain. They were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on September 4, 1929.
Emma taught home economics at Tooele High School and then lived in Salt Lake for her entire married life. A life-long member of the LDS Church where she held many positions, among them, Relief Society teacher and visiting teacher. For most of those years she was a member of the 27th East Ward, Emigration Stake. She worked for many years at Auerbach's and was a volunteer at Primary Children's Medical Center for about 24 years.
She is survived by her four children, Diane (Gene) Bennett, Peggy Whitney, Ted (Sharon) Thain, and Michael (Sandy) Thain; 22 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Ted; parents; four brothers; and three sisters.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 27, 1998, 11 a.m., Logan City Cemetery. Friends may call at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, Friday evening 6-8 p.m.
Emma was dearly loved by all her family and will be greatly missed.
