On Monday, June 22, 1998, Kathleen Loretta Ford died peacefully at home, surrounded by her loved ones, after a long struggle with breast cancer.
Kathleen was born on December 4, 1952 in Phoenix, AZ to John L. Ford and Constance M. Garvey Ford.She is survived by her husband, Timothy T. Rule, Salt Lake City; sister, Mary Ann Ford Garvey, Appleton, WI; and brother, John J. Ford, Salt Lake City.
Kathleen graduated with Phi Beta Kappa honors from Arizona State University in 1974. She attended medical school at the University of Arizona, and eventually specialized in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology at Los Angeles County Medical Center and Maricopa County General Hospital. For ten years she dedicated herself to private practice and the treatment of Diabetes Mellitus. Until recently, Kathleen was the only female Endocrinologist in the Rocky Mountain States. She completed the last two years of her career on staff at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Salt Lake City and was involved in the training of medical students as well as being a skilled and caring physician.
Kathleen was a member of the American Diabetes Association, Utah State Medical Association, and St. Ambrose parish.
In addition to her dedication to her profession, Kakki loved being outdoors with family and friends. She spent summers hiking, kayaking, camping and winters skiing and snowshoeing.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 25, 1998, at 4 p.m. in St. Ambrose Church, 1975 South 2300 East, Salt Lake City.
