Our beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, Velma Soccol Horton, 82, passed away June 20, 1998 of complications due to Alzheimer's.
Velma was born December 15, 1915 in Bingham, Utah, to Bertolo and Maria Soccol. She married Deveresex Hunt, Jr.; divorced. She married Charles (Chick) Horton June 1, 1946. Velma worked and spent 20 years at Bennett's Glass and Paint in their graphics department, retiring in 1979.Velma will be most remembered for her dedication to her family, and especially her beautiful smile, that brightened so many lives.
Velma is survived by her children, Jeannette Hunt, Owyhee, NV; Charles Horton, and Kayleen Fowler, both of Salt Lake City; seven grandchildren, Todd, Blake, Travis, Troy, Jamie, Jacob, and Kris; and her sister, Jean DeSimon, of Tooele.
Velma was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; and her brothers, Bert, Seto, and Dell.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 30, 1998 at 12 noon, at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Chapel, 3401 Highland Dr. Friends and family may call Monday, June 29, 1998, from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to service. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
The family would especially like to thank the staff at the Neighborhood House on Vine Street, and everyone employed at the Murray Care Center, who helped care for Velma.
