After much anticipation, the South Mountain Golf Club in Draper will finally open Saturday. The 7,100-yard course designed by former U.S. Open champion David Graham, has been ready to go all spring, but a delay in getting a road built to the clubhouse has postponed the opening.

The course is in tremendous shape, according to general manager of golf operations Rob Kohlhaas."Our course is pristine, our location and surrounding scenery is hard to beat and our course design is challenging, yet extremely rewarding for all levels of play," said Kohlhaas.

The South Mountain Golf Club is located at 1247 East Rambling Road. For information on tee times, call 495-0500.

CHAMPIONS CHALLENGE: Juli Inkster, a 16-time winner on the LPGA Tour, will play in the inaugural Champions Challenge Monday and Tuesday at Thanksgiving Point Golf Course.

Inkster will team with Liselotte Neumann in the Challenge, a $550,000 event that matches two-person teams in an 18-hole scramble. Inkster replaces Jim Furyk, who had to withdraw from the tournament because of other commitments.

Inkster and Neumann are the only female team entered in the tournament. Other teams include Jack and Mike Nicklaus, Gary and Wayne Player, Billy and Bobby Casper, Hale and Steve Irwin, John Daly-Laura Davies, Fuzzy Zoeller-Craig Stadler, and Johnny Miller and a partner to be determined.
