A Vietnam veteran who claimed he was an heir to Napoleon III was convicted Tuesday of murdering a mystery woman he said he killed as a human sacrifice because she tried to get close to his fortune.

Angel Paris Serrano, 43, was found guilty of three counts of second-degree murder in the stabbing death of Sherry Hollis Gini, 45, a reclusive woman who is believed to have lived in California before she died violently July 23, 1995, in her apartment on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.The jury needed only 45 minutes to find him guilty.
