Roma Elizabeth Christensen Richards, 80, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away June 12, 1998 in a Hanford, California nursing home. She had endured the complications of a stroke with humor and patience and has now returned to her Heavenly Father's waiting arms.

Roma was born April 8, 1918 in Glenns Ferry, Idaho to Niels Edward and Furl Huntsman Christensen. She married Howard Vaughn Richards on September 17, 1936 in Farmington, Utah. Their marriage was later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. They resided in Midvale, Utah for 50 years. Howard died October 4, 1988. After nearly ten years, mother returned to be with her eternal companion.Roma was an active member of the LDS Church. She served in many callings in the Primary, MIA, and Relief Society. Her favorite was working with the young women, especially girls camp. She and Howard served as ordinance workers in the Jordan River Temple prior to serving a mission in Los Angeles. Following Howard's death, Roma continued to serve as an ordinance worker until the day she suffered a stroke in the temple in March 1995.

She loved life and looked at everyone with loving non-judgmental eyes. She never spoke ill of anyone. She enjoyed going to the temple, going to lunch, doing crafts, and making quilts and cooking for her grandchildren.

Roma is survived by her son and three daughters and their spouses: Ted (Darlene) Richards, Farmington, Utah; Ann (Jerry) Thompson, Pismo Beach, California; Carol (Dallas) Hakanson; Mary (Roy) Berrett, Hanford, California; she is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 17 great- grandchildren and numerous friends and relatives who love her.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, June 20, 1998 at 11 a.m. in the Midvale 4th LDS Ward Chapel, 75 Olympus St. Friends may call at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State, Friday 6-8 p.m. and Saturday at the church from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment, Midvale City Cemetery.
