A Provo man was killed Thursday night after being struck by several vehicles on the southbound I-15 on-ramp at 123rd South.

The man, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was not immediately identified Friday by investigators, pending notification of relatives.Utah Highway Patrol spokeswoman Debra Wassner said investigators have no information about why the man was walking on the freeway at 11:35 p.m.

"All of a sudden he was just there," Carl Camp, one of the motorists who pulled over after hitting the pedestrian, told investigating officer Allan Coffman.

Wassner said at least two other vehicles struck the man, perhaps unknowingly. "They may have thought they just struck debris," said Wassner. The UHP Friday put out an alert for any motorists who were in that area and may notice blood on their cars. They are encouraged to notify investigators.
