The King of Tonga will receive an unusual gift for his 80th birthday - a display by a troupe of ball-juggling Swedish gymnasts.

King Taufa'ahau Tupou IV first saw the Idla troupe perform at the Mexico Olympics in 1968 and was so impressed he never forgot them. Now the group will perform at a birthday banquet for the king on July 4 as part of the weekong Heilala Festival in the South Pacific kingdom of 100,000 people.

Since he last saw the troupe, the king himself has adopted an altogether more athletic bearing, losing more than 154 pounds since his weight peaked at 463 pounds in 1976, with his advice: "Eat less and eat less fat."
