The Olympus Chapter of the American Business Women's Association honored Ruth Hale as Community Woman of the Year at a recent meeting. Mrs. Hale and her late husband Nathan amassed 50 years of theater experience in California and Utah.
Mrs. Hale has written some 70 plays and is a star performer at the family theater. The new Hale Centre Theatre will open this fall on her 90th birthday. She has also been honored by the YWCA of Glendale, Calif., as a "Woman of Heart and Excellence," the Mormon Arts Festival in St. George for "Distinguished Achievement" and as the Heritage Award Winner in 1991 by the Utah-California Women.The Olympus chapter of the American Business Women's Association is a nonprofit scholarship organization.
NEW OFFICERS: Friends Unlimited installed new officers for the coming year at a recent luncheon. Heading the 150-member group is Ruth Pullen with Joan Dunne first vice-president, Doreene Hoopiiania, second vice president; Dorothy Scott, third vice president; Nonna Christensen, secretary and Marjorie Larsen treasurer.
The objectives of the club is to provide opportunities for members to become acquainted with the community. The group has been in existence for 20 years and aids the community in charitable and humanitarian projects.
