Salt Lake police officers and paramedics responded to a call of a man down near 337 W. 1500 South at 10:45 p.m. Tuesday to find a man suffering from traumatic head injuries who was near death.
The man was found lying on the street with his right arms and leg in the gutter. He was partially dressed, but missing his shirt and the left shoe, according to a Salt Lake City police report.A resident saw the man and thought he was intoxicated, so he called 911. But he told police he didn't see anyone else in the area or hear any noises. Salt Lake Police Lt. Phil Kirk said.
He was transported to LDS Hospital, where he died at 11:27 p.m., the report states.
Police are still uncertain who the man is and how he was injured. Detectives are investigating.
An autopsy is being conducted by the state medical examiner, Kirk said.
