Gordon Paul Cragun, 71, died Monday, June 8, 1998 at his home.
He was born January 16, 1927 in Ogden, a son of Paul B. and Flora Grace Rhees Cragun. On May 3, 1946, Gordon married Donna Rawlings in Rock Springs, Wyoming. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 9, 1947. He graduated from Weber High School and attended Weber State College. He had lived in Pleasant View and in 1957 moved to Whittier where the family lived until 1963 when they returned to Pleasant View. Gordon was a member of the Pleasant View 1st LDS Ward where he served as a Bishop and in several other organizations. Most recently he served as a sealer in the Ogden Temple. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Army Air Corps. Gordon was a grain merchant for General Mills. He served as a past president of the General Mills Grain Exchange in California and also of the Utah Idaho Grain Exchange. Gordon also served on the Pleasant View Water Board and Board of Adjustments.Surviving are his wife, of Pleasant View; four sons and one daughter, Kent G. (Terri) Cragun, Pleasant View; Keith J. (Jeanette) Cragun, and Paul Scott (Mitzie) Cragun, both of North Ogden; Curtis R. (Laurie) Cragun, Kaysville; Catherine (Randy) Tucker, Farmington; 24 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Gordon is also survived by three brothers, Richard R. (Ann) Cragun, Pleasant View; Dr. John R. (Carolyn) Cragun, North Logan; Dr. Charles R. (MaryBeth) Cragun, Pleasant View. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Pleasant View 1st Ward Chapel, 896 W. Pleasant View Dr. Friends may call at Lindquist's North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd., on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. and Friday at the Ward Chapel from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment, North Ogden Cemetery. "A gentleman and a gentle man."
