Patricia Riter Howells, age 77, passed away at her home in Rancho Bernardo, California on June 7, 1998.
Born on December 1, 1920 to Levi and Marjorie Riter, she was raised in Salt Lake City and graduated from Rowland Hall and Westminster College. Her artistic curiosity led her to Chouinard Art School in Los Angeles, the first step in a life filled with creativity and design. She worked as an interior designer for Eldredge Furniture while actively involved in the Junior League and the Utah Symphony Guild. She married Harold W. Howells on July 26, 1942. They had two daughters and were later divorced.Pat moved to San Diego in 1973, where she pursued a career in real estate. She was a member of numerous social organizations and was an avid golfer and traveler.
She is survived by her daughters, Karen Thorsen Tatomer, of Salt Lake City; and Marjorie R. Mills, of Corinne, Utah; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pat was "the best" and will be sorely missed by her family and friends with whom she shared her incredible zest for living. If ever a woman was loved by all, it was Pat!
