Mary Margaret "May" Cowley Groesbeck, 91, our loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter on June 7, 1998.
She was born January 30, 1907, to William Ernest and Christeen Golden Cowley in Logan, Utah. She married Earl "Monty" Sanderson Groesbeck on January 18, 1928, in Ogden, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.She graduated from Utah State University in home economics. For a number of years she and her husband owned and operated Monty's Cafe in Springville, Utah. Later she taught high school and elementary school in Randolph, Utah.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many leadership and teaching positions in the Kolob Stake and Springville 2nd and 8th Wards. She was a great-granddaughter of President Heber C. Kimball; great-niece of J. Golden Kimball; and a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.
She is survived by her children, Monty C. Groesbeck (Marilyn) of Provo, Utah; Marilyn Robertson (Mark) of Springville, Utah; Katherine "Kay" Call (Eran), Monterrey, Mexico; and John Peter (Genevieve) of Taylorsville, Utah; 24 grandchildren and 54 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Janet C. Davis of Logan, Utah. She was preceded in death by her husband, and daughter Ann Christine.
Friends may call Tuesday evening at the Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South, Springville, Utah, from 6 to 8 p.m. or Wednesday prior to services at the church. Services will be held at the Springville, Utah Stake Center, 245 South 600 East, at 11 a.m. Burial will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
