Jayson Tane Chase, age 17, passed away June 5, 1998, in Cedar City, Utah.
He was born August 20, 1980, in Salt Lake City, to Clifford and Jane Ann Chase.Jayson received his mission call beyond the veil on June 5, 1998.
Jayson had a great love for his family and friends. He brought great joy and happiness to all who knew him through his fun loving manner. In return he received lots of love from all. He was a member of the Hunter 27th Ward.
He graduated from Hunter High School on June 4, 1998. Jayson was a gifted person especially in athletics. He was chosen as a 1997 high school 5A All State football star, and Region Three honorable mention in high school basketball. He gave Hunter High sports fans some exhilarating moments. Jayson accepted a football scholarship from Dixie College and was excited about attending college. He had a bright future ahead of him in this mortal life, but was given a greater calling.
"Jayson, you were a shooting star in this life whose light shined brightly for a short time only to be suddenly extinguished. Jayson there are no words to describe how much your family loves and misses you. Kia Kaha, our son."
He is survived by his parents, Clifford and Jane Ann; sisters, Raiha and Candice; brother, Adam; and grandparents, Sara Chase and Dolly Taala; and many other close relatives.
A memorial service will be held on Monday June 8, 1998, at 5 p.m. at Hunter High School Gymnasium (4200 South 5600 West). All are welcome to attend.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 1998, at 11 a.m. at the Hunter East Stake Center, 5000 West Pavant Ave. (3710 South). The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6-9 p.m. and 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, both at the stake center. Interment at Valley View Memorial Park.
