A teenage mother and her two children died in a fire Friday as they huddled under a running shower for safety.
The victims, including a 2-year-old and a 7-month-old, were trapped by fire on the porch and at the front of their apartment. Bystanders and rescue crews were unable to penetrate the flames to get to them."All three victims were found in a shower, and the water had been turned on and the victims tried to stay wet," Henry County Prosecutor Kit Crane said. They apparently were killed by the smoke, he said.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
