Miami's political chaos deepened Friday night as a city manager fired Monday by Mayor Joe Carollo was reinstated unanimously by the city commission, only to report within hours that Carollo had fired him again.

The city commission voted 4-0 during its evening meeting to reinstate Jose Garcia-Pedrosa, who had been Miami's fourth city manager in seven months until his dismissal Monday. But Carollo, who said he had lost confidence in Garcia-Pedrosa, called him on his cellular telephone later in the evening and dismissed him again, Garcia-Pedrosa told Miami Fox affiliate WSVN-TV.

Carollo had hinted he might dismiss Garcia-Pedrosa again after the commission vote, telling reporters, "Tomorrow is another day."

It was not immediately clear whose actions - the mayor's or the city commission's - took legal precedence.
