The Humane Society of Utah hopes to place at least 100 dogs and cats in new homes during its annual Adopt-a-thon beginning at 3 p.m. Friday and continuing through most of the weekend until 5 p.m. Sunday.
"And to show that they're really in the spirit of things, many of our dedicated dogs will be wearing Jazz jerseys and sporting other team paraphernalia. We can't guarantee that they'll be shaking pompons, but they certainly will be wagging their tails!" said society executive director Gene Baierschmidt. The shelter lobby at 4242 S. 300 West will be equipped with TV sets and decorated with balloons for the Jazz vs. Bulls games. Treats will be given. Animal adoptions will take place until midnight Friday and from 10 a.m. to midnight Saturday and beginning at 10 a.m. Sunday.
A $69 regular adoption fee will be charged for dogs and cats, while a 10 percent discount will be given on every big dog.
