Renowned singer and actor Harry Belafonte will make a rare concert stop in Salt Lake City at Abravanel Hall on Thursday, June 11. The concert will begin at 8 p.m.

The concert is part of the annual Blue Cross Blue Shield Caring Program for Children benefit.Tickets for the concert are available for $35 at all Smith'sTix outlets. Tickets for a pre-concert dinner and auction are also available for $125 by calling 333-5291. The price includes admission to the concert.

Throughout his career, Belafonte has been called the "King of Calypso" and "The Consummate Entertainer." He has also been deeply involved with political activism all over the globe - especially for human rights. He was named cultural adviser to the Peace Corps by President John F. Kennedy in 1960.

Belafonte has released more than 39 albums ranging from Calypso to opera to pop.
