Bonneville International Corp. veteran Oral S. (.J.) Johnson has been named vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer of the Salt Lake-based media company.
Johnson joined Bonneville in 1978 as controller of non-broadcast operations. In 1980 he was named president of BEI Productions Inc., and interim general manager of Bonneville Broadcasting System. He became vice president and corporate controller in 1986. He also serves as a member of the advisory board of Bonneville Broadcasting System and chairman of the board of Bonneville Entertainment Co."O.J. has distinguished himself as corporate controller over the past 10 years," said Rodney H. Brady, president and chief executive officer. "His new assignment means he will work even more closely with the president and the board of directors."
Johnson said the financial department's goal is to strive for excellence in serving the overall company.
From 1964 to 1970 Johnson was a senior accountant for Deloitte, Haskins and Sells in Los Angeles, and from 1970 to 1978 he was an audit manager for that firm in its Salt Lake office.
He was graduated in economics from the University of Utah and is certified as a public accountant in California and Utah. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Utah Association of Certified Public Accountants and the Broadcast Financial Management Association.
Johnson is married to the former Colleen Fullmer. The couple and their four children live in Bountiful.
Bonneville International Corp. operates radio and/or television stations in Salt Lake City (BL-AM-TV), Seattle (IRO-AM-TV, KSEA-FM), San Francisco (OIT-AM-FM), Los Angeles (BIG-FM), Dallas (AAM-AM, KZPS-FM), Kansas City (MBZ-AM, KMBR-FM), Chicago (CLR-FM) and New York City (NSR-FM).
