Orson Larry Dyer, passed away June 3, 1998 at his home in Los Angeles, CA.
He was born May 13, 1905 in Salt Lake City, UT, to Orson Clarence and Ada Britt Dyer. Married to Elsie Connover, of Provo, UT, 1927. She preceded him in death. Member of the LDS Church. Educated in Salt Lake City public schools. In his teens he was Assistant Display Manager for ZCMI. In 1923 he moved to Los Angeles, CA, where he joined the US Navy and trained at the San Diego Naval Base. He was assigned to the USS West Virginia, where he served his entire four years as first drummer in the Admiral's orchestra.Larry was employed by the Los Angeles Fox Film Studios for 27 years, 1943 to 1970, as Foreman of the Floral Display Department. After his retirement he devoted his entire time to his family, photography, and raising exotic plants and flowers. He was very generous with sharing his flowers with friends and neighbors.
He loved life - had a keen sense of humor and a quick wit. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by one brother, Kenneth B. Dyer (Dorothy K.), of Salt Lake City, UT; his family in CA: two sons, Richard (Elaine), Kenneth; daughter, Francis Ada Hart (Melvin); eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, June 6, 1998, at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Glendale, CA.
