ALCOHOL-FREE BASHES BASHES PLANNED TO HELP THE NEWLY GRADUATED SURVIVE THE NIGHT

MURRAY HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS AND PARENTS DIDN'T WANT THEIR FRIENDS TO END UP AS DRUNKEN DRIVING STATISTICS ON GRADUATION NIGHT, SO THEY HAVE RENTED A LOCAL SPORTS COMPLEX FOR AN ALCOHOL-FREE PARTY FRIDAY NIGHT. JUDY DANSIE, A PARENT, SAID THE PARTY WILL PROVIDE ACTIVITIES THAT WILL KEEP GRADUATES OFF THE HIGHWAY AND AWAY FROM THE BOTTLE. NO ALCOHOL WILL BE ALLOWED AT THE PARTY.

"IF THEY CHOOSE TO LEAVE, THEY CAN'T COME BACK IN," SAID DANSIE, AND THEY WILL ALSO FORFEIT SOME VALUABLE DOOR PRIZES DONATED BY LOCAL BUSINESSES.

GRADUATES CAN BET "MURRAY MONEY" AT A CASINO, PLAY RACQUETBALL OR DANCE.

ON FRIDAY MORNING, THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES WILL PRESENT A "SOBER GRADUATION" ASSEMBLY FOR TAYLORSVILLE HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS. THAT EVENING, THE PARENT-TEACHER ASSOCIATION WILL HOST THE GRADUATES AT AN ALL-NIGHT PARTY AT A SPORTS COMPLEX.

OTHER HIGH SCHOOLS ARE PLANNING SIMILAR EVENTS, INCLUDING A BASH FOR HILLCREST HIGH GRADUATES AT A SALT LAKE HOTEL.
