Denton K. Jackson, 97, of Pleasant Grove, passed away Monday, June 1, 1998 at Alpine Care Center.
He was born December 21, 1900 in Venice, Sevier County, Utah, to Thomas Edward and Eliza Jane Shaw Jackson. He married Cecilia Ward and had seven children. She passed away July 22, 1970. He grew up in Sevier County and graduated from high school in Richfield. After graduation, he served an LDS mission to the southern states. He served for three years on the high council in the Granite Stake and also as bishop of the Fairmont Ward. He served as temple worker for 25 years in both the Salt Lake and Provo Temples. He and his wife Cecilia performed together in many operas and other musical productions.He is survived by three daughters and three sons: Mable Spencer, Tooele; Betty Taylor, Kaysville; Ward (Joyce) Jackson, Salt Lake; Clinton (Ruth) Jackson, Pleasant Grove; Celia Mae (Steve) Hurst, Salt Lake; John Edward Jackson, Pleasant Grove; 37 grandchildren and 105 great-grandchildren, and 21 great great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jamie Jackson.
Funeral services Friday, June 5, 1998 at 11 a.m. in the Olpin Family Mortuary Chapel, 500 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove where friends may call one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.
