A small airplane crashed into a house Wednesday and caught fire. Both people on the plane were killed, but the occupants of the house were uninjured.
The single-engine plane went down in late morning about two miles from Smith Reynolds Airport, said police dispatcher J.I. Dalton. Authorities hadn't determined if it was trying to reach the airport. There were two or three people in the single-story house on the city's north side, said police Lt. Deneille Atwood.
The plane smashed into a corner of the house and ended up leaning against the building, she said.
Firefighters put out a small fire.
