Elias "Ed" S. Salazar, age 73, passed away on May 31, 1998 at Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George.
He was born on March 28, 1925 in Lincoln, New Mexico to Bernardo and Margarita Salazar. He married Jacqueline A. Gann on October 24, 1950 in Reno, Nevada. Ed was raised and educated in Lincoln, New Mexico and served in the Merchant Marines. He worked as an electrician for Hill Air Force Base and retired after 33 years of service. He then worked 11 years at the University of Utah Hospital. Ed enjoyed hunting, gardening and sports, especially basketball and golf. He was very kind, gentle and loved to tell jokes. He had a great sense of humor.Ed is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Salazar of Santa Clara; two daughters, Dianna (Joel) Velarde of Phoenix, AZ and Cheryn Ross of Santa Rosa, CA; five sons: Gary (Peggy) Salazar of Salt Lake City, UT, Randy (Sue) Salazar of Rockland, Maine, Roger (Michael) Salazar, Stanley (Kathy) Salazar and Sheldon (Cincy) Salazar all of Salt Lake City, UT; 19 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; three brothers: Alex, Ruby and Joel; five sisters: Ida, Ester, Flo, Alice and Viola. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Roger.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 4, 1998 at 2 p.m. at Spilsbury & Beard Mortuary, 110 South Bluff, in St. George, UT. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 7-8 and Thursday afternoon one hour prior to services under the direction of Spilsbury & Beard Mortuary, St. George, UT-673-2454.
