We now have drive-through food, drive-through dry cleaning, drive-through banking - hey, why not drive-through voter registration?
Wednesday is the deadline to register to vote in the June 23 primary election. Salt Lake County is trying to make the process of registering as painless as possible by allowing people to register without even getting out of their car. Just pull up, fill out a form, drive away - you're now legal."The `Voter Express' offers people the ultimate convenience," said county Clerk Sherrie Swensen.
People who have moved or changed their name since last voting need to re-register, and those voting for the first time need to register. In addition to the drive-through voting, residents may still register by mail, as long as their application is postmarked by Wednesday. Call 468-3427 for more information.
Drive-through registration locations open Wednesday: Salt Lake County Government Center, 2001 S. State, Salt Lake City, south parking lot (8 a.m.-5 p.m.); Smith's, 845 E. 4500 South, Salt Lake City (9 a.m.-noon); Valley Fair Mall, 3601 S. 2700 West, West Valley City (1-4 p.m.).
