The Utah Transit Authority will hold a public hearing Wednesday, June 10, to consider changing several bus routes.
The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the third-floor auditorium of the Salt Lake City Library, 209 E. 500 South. The proposed changes, which would take place in August, are as follows:
- Route 4 - The route would be removed from South Temple and placed on 400 South. It would also be removed from State Street, 1300 East and University Street and would be extended beyond Hogle Zoo to Crestview and Kennedy Street.
- Route 69 - The route's path through downtown Salt Lake City would be changed. The bus would travel north on West Temple to North Temple, west to 900 West and north to Hill Air Force Base.
- Routes 64, 65, 79 - All three would be combined into one route starting at Fashion Place Mall, traveling west on I-215 to 4700 South and 4000 West, north to Valley Fair Mall and north to Hill Air Force Base via I-215 and I-15.
- Route 74 - This route would be canceled due to poor ridership. Riders could instead use route 69.
A translator for the hearing impaired can be made available for the public hearing by calling 262-5626, ext. 5375.
Written comments on the proposed changes can be mailed to Jerri Ashurst, public hearings examiner, UTA, P.O. Box 30810, Salt Lake City, UT 84130-0810. They must be received no later than June 21 to become part of the public hearing record.
