LaNola Irene (Olsen) West died on Sunday, May 31, 1998, her spirit being released at last from the body which has suffered so many years from the pain and crippling effects of acute rheumatoid arthritis and other medical problems.Irene was born November 30, 1915 to James F. Olsen and Mable Irene Flowers Olsen. She was the oldest of six children. She married McClellan West on August 31, 1935. Their marriage was later solomized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many positions in the Primary, Young Womens, and Relief Society organizations. She was proud to be a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, Brickyard Camp. Irene derived great pleasure and satisfaction from serving others, as evidenced by her many charitable acts to family, friends, and shut-ins, and her long career as a waitress. She worked for many years at the Newhouse Hotel, Doll House, and Amber restaurants.

She is survived by her daughter, Colleen; her son, Steve; three grandsons, three great-granddaughters; sisters, Vera Spiking and Doris Ellis; brothers, Leon Olsen and Robert Olsen. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Fred Olsen.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 4, at 12 noon, at the Cottonwood Heights Stake Center, 6890 So. 2225 E. (behind Whitmore Library). Viewing will be Wednesday, June 3, from 6-8 p.m. at Memorial Estates, 5850 South 9th East and one hour prior to service at the Ward. Interment at Elysian Gardens. Funeral Directors, Deseret Memorial Mortuary.
