Chad Rupp's two-run homer capped a seven-run, seventh-inning Salt Lake rally Sunday as the Buzz beat the Las Vegas Stars 7-5 in a Pacific Coast League game at Cashman Field.
Brad Kaufman's shutout pitching and a three-run homer by George Arias in the first inning gave Las Vegas a 3-0 lead entering the seventh. But that's when the Buzz exploded.Jeff Ferguson hit a two-run single and Ken Ramos added a pinch-hit RBI double to tie the game. Chris Latham then hit a two-run double before Rupp hit his seventh homer of the season.
Chris Prieto hit an RBI triple in the seventh and Dusty Allen added a run-scoring double in the eighth for Las Vegas, but Fred Rath pitched a scoreless ninth for his eighth save.
Winning pitcher Mark Redman (2-0) allowed three runs and four hits in six innings while walking three and striking out six. Kaufman (2-4) gave up four runs and four hits in six-plus innings while walking five and striking out one.
The Stars have homered in a team-record 12 straight games.
