Larry Grant Best, age 61, died May 29, 1998, in Salt Lake City.
Born May 29, 1937 in Kamas, Utah to Stanley E. and Nevada Whitehead Best. Married Rita Ann Carbine Sept., 1961. Divorced in 1980. Larry graduated Salutatorian from South Summit High School and received his B.S. and Masters Degree in English from BYU. Served in the Army National Guard. Obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut. He taught English at BYU and later worked as a technical writing consultant at Shipley and Associates, and did marketing for SMI.Survivors include his children, Julie (Clifton) Hooker, Warrenton, VA; Jen Best, Salt Lake City; Stephanie Best, Manassas, VA and Derek Daniel (Kasey) Best, Salt Lake City. Four grandchildren, Elizabeth, Joanna, Madeline and Thomas. Brothers and sisters, Colleen (Alton) Barzee, Springville, UT; Brian (Lorna) Best, Orem, UT; Loralee (Gerald) Crittenden, Rexburg, ID; Michael (Jean) Best, Salt Lake City; Mary Lee (Charles) Richards, Roy, UT; and companion of 20 years Clifford Sunbear.
