LeGrand Barker Ward passed away May 29, 1998 at his home in Spanish Fork of cancer.

He was born December 9, 1914 in North Ogden, Utah to Lorenzo and Mary Emeline Barker Ward, the fifth child in a family of two daughters and four sons. LeGrand graduated from Weber County High School where he served as student body president. He attended Utah State Agricultural College where he received his BS Degree in Economics in 1937. He was also at Louisiana State University for two years on a fellowship in their Master's Program.He married Helen Lucille Donaldson, September 1, 1939 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died January 19, 1953. He then married Connie Rhees Warren, September 8, 1953 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

LeGrand served for three years in the South Pacific as a Lt. J.G. in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked for the U.S. Federal Government for over 33 years in the Bureau of Reclamation as well as the Department of Agriculture at Berkeley, California, the War Relocation Authority in Salt Lake City and the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Washington D.C. and Riverside, California.

Active in the LDS Church, he served faithfully in many callings--Elder's Quorum presidency, High Priest Group Leader and as a counselor and ward clerk in four Bishoprics for 20 years. He and his wife, Connie, served for six years a Host and Hostess for incoming missionaries at the MTC in Provo. He was an ordinance worker in the Provo LDS Temple for 13 years. He also served a stake mission.

LeGrand had a deep love for the beauties of nature and the magnificent handiwork of God. He loved the Lord, his family, friends and his country. His tender love, wit and wise counsel will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his wife, Connie, and six children: Tyler R. (Anita) Ward of Spanish Fork; Karen Rae (James) Lundahl of Logan; Adele (Allen) Coray of Kaysville; De Anne (Kent) Haws of Boise, Idaho; Lynette (Terry) Rogerson of Layton; Jana Rae (Jerry) Shaw of North Ogden; his sister, Naomi W. Randall of LaMesa, California; also 32 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by children, Kelly L. Ward, Connie Jill Clark, Curtis D. Ward and Elaine Ward.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 3, 1998 at 11 a.m. in the Spanish Fork West Stake Center, 360 North 650 West. Viewing will be on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Walker Mortuary, 187 South Main, Spanish Fork, Utah and at the Spanish Fork Stake Center on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. preceding services. Interment will be in the North Ogden Ben Lomond Cemetery, 556 East 2900 North, at 4 p.m. Full military honors will be accorded by the American Legion.
