The Provo Library summer reading program "Spectacular Summer Reading Fun," will begin Monday, June 1.
This program is for children through 12 years of age. Nonreaders may get credit for the number of minutes their parents or care givers read to them. This is a six-week program, in which children will read at least 20 minutes each day. Although children may register at any time, the program officially ends July 18.T-shirts, paid for by the Friends of the Provo Library, will be ordered and children can wear their summer reading shirt at the "End of the Summer Reading Party" on Aug. 8. The library stresses the importance of a relaxed but consistent daily program. Children are not asked to read specific genres, grade levels, or number of pages - just 20 minutes each day.
Along with the summer reading program, the library offers the popular outdoor story time, "Canopy Capers." Children and parents may bring their lunch and enjoy professional storytellers or occasional puppet shows every Tuesday and Thursday at noon under the library canopy.
