Leslie was born July 8, 1950 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Hugh Alfred Aston and Daisy Deverall Aston in Magna, Utah. She graduated from Cyprus High School in 1968. Leslie received her Bachelor of Science and Master of Education degrees from the University of Utah. Leslie taught many years in Granite School District as a first grade teacher and as a special education teacher at Whittier, Bennion, Twin Peaks and Cottonwood Elementary schools. She was later employed as a resource coordinator in the Granite School District Office. She admired and loved all of her exceptional students. She was in love with her running, her tennis, the hikes and the mountains. Her only flaw was a soft dislike of golf.
Leslie gave unconditional love to her husband of 26 years; her sister, Marian and their family. Leslie will be missed by them more than words can provide in the telling. Leslie was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.Survived by her husband, R. Brent Stephens, of Salt Lake City, Utah; Marian Graves (Richard), of West Valley City, Utah; nephews, Gregory J. Jones (Wendy), of Draper, Utah; Jason R. Jones, (Andrea), of Midvale, Utah; Jeremy Aston Jones, of West Valley City, Utah; Jacob R. Graves; and grand nieces and grand nephews, Alex, Ashley, Sydney Jane, Nicholas and Elliot. Preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral service will be held Friday, May 29, 1998 at 11 a.m. at the Cottonwood Stake Center, 1830 East 6400 South. Friends and family may call Thursday, 6-8 p.m. at Memorial Mortuary, 5850 South 900 East, and on Friday one hour prior to service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in her name to the Alzheimer's Association, 455 East 400 South, SLC, Utah 84111.
