John F. Guenon, Jr., 61, passed away Sunday, May 24 1998 in Sandy.
He was born March 6, 1937 in Leadville, Colorado, a son of John Frank Sr. and Gladys Berrett Guenon. He married Joyce Mower October 8, 1965 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He graduated from Jordan High School, served an LDS mission in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, served in the U.S. Army, was an active member of the LDS Church having served in two bishoprics. Was an employee of Sweet Candy Co. for 35 years. A devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved deer hunting and attending the Utah Jazz basketball games with his family and was a foster parent for 22 years.He is survived by his wife; daughter, Julie Kay (Dave) Thomas; sons, Jack Dale Guenon, Jerry Frank (Leslie) Guenon; mother-in-law, Bernice Mower; grandchildren, Braxton, Clint, Darcie, Amber, Austin, Jaycie, Lacey, and Monica. He was preceded in death by parents; grandparents; infant twins; and a number of aunts and uncles.
Funeral service will be held Friday, May 29, 1998 at 11 a.m. at the Mt. Jordan 1st Ward, 300 East 9000 So. Friends may call Thursday 6-8 p.m. at the Jenkins Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So State St. and Friday one hour prior to service at the church. Interment: Altonah Cemetery at 3 p.m.
