Primary Children's Medical Center will sponsor its fourth annual Bike Fair on Saturday, May 30, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
All children are invited to bring their bikes and come on down. The event is in the hospital's south parking lot.Five hundred bike helmets will be distributed on a first-come basis to children who attend. Emergency medical room physicians say that if every child wore a bike helmet, many tragedies resulting from bike accidents would be averted.
Primary Children's Child Advocacy and Emergency departments, the Salt Lake Police and Fire departments and others will provide safety information. Proline House of Speed employees will donate their time to do minor bike repairs and tuneups. And information will be provided for more extensive repairs that might be needed. Children can also ride through a "bike rodeo" course.
The Life Safety House will also provide a hands-on experience on what to do in case of fire, and the Utah Transit Authority will show the public how to take a bike on the bus.
