Darrell Whitmore's home run in the bottom of the eighth inning Monday helped Nashville beat Salt Lake City 5-3 in Pacific Coast League action.

Jeff Patzke hit a RBI single in the bottom of the second to give the Sounds a 1-0 lead.But Salt Lake City's Scott Stahoviak hit his fifth home run of the season to tie the game at 1-1.

The Buzz then went up 3-1 in the sixth following RBI singles from Brian Buchanan and Jamie Ogden.

But the Sounds answered with three runs in the seventh to take a 4-3 lead.

In that frame, Steve Biser had a RBI single, Patzke scored on a wild pitch by Frank Rodriguez and George Canale hit a sacrifice fly.

Kris Benson (3-4) was the winner and Jeff McCurry got his ninth save of the year. Frank Rodriguez (1-3) suffered the loss.
