Layton High senior Nashaela Lyons recently received a $10,000 scholarship award for outstanding community service efforts and excellence.

Lyons has clocked more than 4,600 hours of volunteer service in youth camps, teen council leadership and CPR instruction, among other causes.The scholarship was awarded by Target Stores under its Take Charge of Education initiative. Target this year awarded $10,000 scholarships to four students. It also gives $1,000 scholarships to more than 1,400 students annually.
