A South Jordan man is facing charges he kidnapped a woman and raped her in Salt Lake City May 14.

The woman accepted a ride from the man, who drove her to a secluded area near 2700 East Creek Road (8160 South), according to the charges filed in 3rd District Court Friday.He asked her to have sex but she declined. The man, 31, wouldn't take "no" for an answer and raped and sodomized her, according to the charges. He dropped her off near a busy road in the area after the incident.

The man later told investigators that the woman agreed to have sex, but she denied the claim. Prosecutors believed the woman and charged the man with a count of aggravated kidnapping, rape and forcible sodomy - all first-degree felonies, according to court documents. It was unclear whether the two knew each other before the alleged incidents.
